Listening to the conservation officers traffic (41744) on the NJ state police trunked system...What kind of equipment do these guys have? The transmissions are crystal clear and strong, much better than the troopers traffic.

P25 audio sounds much better than static analog on the 800 MHz system,I would rather listen to NJSP on NJICS.

I know that the users under the State DEP (State Park Police & Fish/Wildlife) are using single 800 band Motorola XTS1500 and APX7000 VHF/7/800 dual band radios. I'm not sure what type of mobile or base station radios are being used at this time. There is a plan to migrate them over to the 700 MHz side of the system as the radios are upgraded from XTS1500's to the APX7000 dual band type I was told. No time frame as of now on that.

GM, I also monitor the Park Police on the 800mhz trunked system however the best radios seem to be the Conservation Officers. Elias, I was not aware the NJSP was on the NJICS system as well. I just bought a Radio Shack 651 and I do not believe I can monitor P25 Type II, but from what you say I assume its much cleaner.

They're not on NJICS full time just when radios affiliate or roam to the 700 MHz side and yes they sound 100% clearer than the 800 MHz system. Pro-651 can track P25 Phase 1 TGs on the system.

These should be the TGs when NJDEP migrate:

1541 Park Police Dispatch
1543 Park Police Operations
1547 Fish & Wildlife Units - Statewide Channel 11
2597 Fish & Wild Life Channel 12 Statewide
2605 Fish & Wild Life Channel 13 North Operations
2607 Fish & Wild Life Channel 14 Central Operations
2609 Fish & Wild Life Channel 15 South Operations
2611 Fish & Wild Life Channel 16 Marine Operations

I pick them up very well on my Pro-106. Personally don't care to listen to game wardens ( don't care for them).. But yes when they do chatter their digital voice transmissions are clear.

I pick up 98% of the digital transmissions on my Pro-106. Some of the talkgroups RR has listened as TDMA capable talkgroups but I've heard all of them in Phase 1. Granted it's decoding is 70/30 on transmissions I can still hear them.

There is no plan for forest fire to move to this system. Its been talked about and decided to stay on VHF for the time being.
