I got a BC396xt, BC996xt, and a R.S. Pro197. How many phase's will these scanners be able to receive as the system is getting upgraded?

Both uniden's will do fine. I'm not familiar with the 197, but if it works with the digital talk groups on the current system, then it should be fine on the new one.

The new system is supposed to be p25 phase 1 for a while with the possibility of moving to p25 phase 2 sometime in the future. If/when that ever happens, you will need a different scanner.

Also, do not confuse the phase 1/2 above with the system upgrade schedule (phase 1,2,3....).

Jeff.

SAFE-T P25 will be Phase 1 through at least 2020. After that they will look into the option of upgrading some users to Phase 2. So your fine for a while guys. Unless your in one of the simulcast sites, then you want to upgrade to one of the newer scanners that can handle P25 LSM's like the BCD436/536HP's or WS 1080/1095.

You have the same scanner lineup that I do, and I also have a PSR-500. JStemann the Pro-197 is the RS version of the PSR-600. They all do well enough with P25 Phase I, but with simulcast systems the 436/536 are going to perform better.
