Manufacture date of BCD396XT

Is there a way to check the manufacture date on my radio, maybe using the serial number? I just bought it (slightly) used on eBay and it looks brand new with updated firmware. Just curious if I'm getting a newly made one or an older one from 2009 or so and wondering does it even matter?

well who ever sold on ebay, could of had the radio "recased", about $45.00. If you have the cuurent firmware, andf a new case, if the buttons look non worn, yours is as good as a new radio. Lucky dog, you got a steal. Two years ago, I got a factory reconditioned model from Uniden, for $260.00

What are the first 6 digits or so of the serial number?

Lots of people selling / trading great shape/almost new 396XT as people want a 436/325 or base unit

You can get a new one for around 250 On eBay I got on for 245 and it was new in the box.
