A friend just emailed this to me. I don't remember ever seeing this one, but it's me back in college at the ham radio club station WB9JBF. The shack was on the 3rd floor of the student union building and the antennas were on the roof, some 200 feet above ground level. We had a 4 element full sized 20 meter beam and it was KILLER for DX. I spent all my free time between classes up there and it was awesome.

From the days of true badazz amateur radio. The closest I got to an institutional station was in high school in '78 when the Dean learned I had a knack for radios, he had me install a CB base station in the faculty building so he could monitor drug deals out in the parking lots.
With all that HF porn in the 1st pic-I see you're on the CB LOL! Well it still was viable in '83-I imagine even more so at that station with its 200' height advantage-you must've had a ton of fun squashing the 11 meters with that one:D
Thanks for the nostalgic pics John!

LOL. Truth be told that's a 2m FM radio, however we did activate "RG8U" from the Isle of Tube' on 11 meters from time to time. Roll the "R"s: Rrrrradio Gerrrmany Eight United ... Isle of Tube' (Tu-bay) QR-zed!"

Oh the pile up's we had. (shame on us).

Crap it looked like a CB sorry John. I am surprised..but then again maybe I am not, that you haven't gotten more RR love in here for posting this cool old school station...but you got tons of views anyway. Go figure:(

Hey zed zed, what is that rig behind your right hand? It looks vaguely familiar but I can't ID it.
