Does anyone know the frequencies used by air ambulances for air-to-ground communications? They are called AirMed 1 and AirMed 2 in NW Ohio, I believe they are simplex and I've been told that they are in the 800 MHz band. I have search this site as well as some others but I haven't found any info on them.

They used to be two of the pre-rebanded NPSPAC interop frequencies 866.5125 and 867.5125. I think the use of those were discontinued after rebanding. Now they can use any of the 8TAC## frequencies. 851.0125, 851.5125 etc.

Those look like something someone set up for local use. The nationwide 8CALL/8TAC frequencies (the two you have listed are 8TAC92 and 8TAC94) are supposed to be used analog with PL 156.7 so it appears someone is freelancing.

Since rebanding, the statewide SOP calls for use of the standard 8CALL/8TAC frequencies, as everyone has them and the names, frequencies and tones are standardized.

David,
Delta had two rescues shortly before noon Saturday, they requested copters for both. LifeFlight was called on the first one and Promedica's copter got the second. I heard both on 852.0125 MHz (AirMed-1), both were on analog with a tone squelch of 156.7 Hz. I've set the scanner for "Auto" so it should pickup both analog and digital modulation.

I know I have had issues dealing with making contact via radio going into facilities in the Toledo area. I was advised we could use one of the Med Channels from National Interop plan but they used odd PL tones. Defeats the concept of Interop.
