Trying to decide what to do with my 2015 Explorer PD with the optional civilian interior. Has a full console even though the shifter is on the column. I need to do 3 radios and have been looking at the APX8000 with the O9 head. Yea it's an expensive radio, but so is the truck.

So your scanner is in the passenger rear kick panel compartment? How did you find running the wires back there and mounting a roof top antenna. I'm figuring I have to drop the entire headliner to do my 3 antenna's.

There is A LOT more going on there than just the 996XT scanner and the RH-96 control head!!!

So I don't like to drill holes into the roof plus i park in a garage at work and that wouldn't work very well. The antenna is mounted on the hatch with a Diamond K412CNMO. Also used all CAT5 network cable to run all the low voltage power. Forgot to get a picture of the switches im using in the front so ill get that later on. but I have 1 CAT5 Running the power from rear and DATA COM for remote head. The other is for all the ON/OFF power from switch to rear for Scanner/RemoteHead, Rear Flash LED's, Front Mini Phantom. The third CAT5 is for the Front Mini Phantom as well as I extended the External Speaker to the Front using a twisted pair.

So far its been really good. I haven't had any real drops in signal quality. I will be traveling a little bit further out of my normal monitoring area this weekend so ill see if i get the same distance as i did when i had it mounted on my Hood lip on my Sport Trac.

radioman2001 - They really don't make it easy to get any wires behind the paneling.. using the CAT5 for most of it was the best idea... very small and flexible. i drilled two holes in the passenger rear cuby to allow access for all the wires... i used the pop out panel where the seat belt connects to frame to pull and push the cables down to the rear passenger door... then there is a lot of room in the floor panel area from back to front to push cables up to front passenger dash area.
