I may have asked this before, but maybe someone has the answer now.

What are "G" cars on the DPS system? (State Patrol, etc. -- 155.640 / 155.655 / 155.565)

I know T cars are DOT, C cars are conservation, etc.

But I don't know what a "G" car is. Today I heard G280 and G265 go 10-41.

This is just a guess, so take it for what it's worth.

Maybe they are DCI agents assigned to Grand Falls Casino. G = gambling/gaming?

I can't recall ever hearing a G car call sign down here, but have heard reference to DCI ### when agents checked in at our former riverboat casino.

That's an interesting thought! Could be . . .

I remember years ago that I used to hear "I" cars, like I-25 or something like that. (I for "Investigator" -- and I was told these were DCI cars)

I haven't heard "I" cars for a while. I wonder if that's why . . . the "G" cars are handling most of the DCI calls. Definitely an interesting theory.

I also asked a trooper friend of mine, and he said he knew about the C cars and T cars, but not G cars. That would seem unusual that the ISP doesn't know about the DCI, but I guess it could happen . . .

I believe "G" cars are some sort of probation officer. I hear them all the time and sometimes they have 2 officer's per car. They go at several address's for a short period of time.

"I" cars are DCI / Narcotics type officers. I have always seen them in unmarked cars with a regular State of Iowa license plate with the county name missing.

I can second what Tim said, I hear them quite a bit in the Waterloo-CR-and Marshalltown areas. Somehow I believe they are tied in with the courts (maybe Federal courts??). That's just what I have gathered after listening to them off and on. Mike

"G" cars are US (Federal) Probation officers

Yes when they are out making probation checks they run 2 man cars-----unmarked with GS plates.

Gambling enforcement (casino's) are handled by DCI agents with "I" designations

I haven't heard "I" cars for a while.
.

DCI does most of their traffic via cell phone now days.........or encrypted ...........you will still hear them going in service and out of service sometimes

I wonder if that's why . . . the "G" cars are handling most of the DCI calls. Definitely an interesting theory.

Anyone hearing the F series? FBI was 100 series, 200s was Treasury. I have not in years.

A retired LEO in Benton County heard a car on CR LEA today F 5706 go inservice to Blairstown today.

(actually he is a contributor on this forum at times)

Neither he nor I have heard that designation before & my contact on the DPS radio system is not available

Any idea on the exact time or something real close to the time when he was talking on the radio?
