To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Well just looking at your screen, you have to set your priority 1 type (and priority 2 if you want it) first and then you are able to check/uncheck the temporary delete boxes that will allow this function.

To use just press your add/delete button whenever scan lands on a priority channel.

Or are you wanting to change the priority channel on the fly? Then use "operator selectable" as your type. Press and hold the scan button to enter the configuration for this.

I tried the OSP but when I hold the scan button OST just appears on the screen and I don't know what to do from that point. I just want to be able to turn the priority on and off and be able to change which channel is the priority of possible.

Then you need to configure your buttons to support both Scan and Add/Delete. If you are getting OST when you press a button, the button settings are not correct.

I wouldn't think that <help> is relevant if those custom programmable
keys have been reprogrammed for other functions.

Read the radio.
Look in your software.
Verify what the function keys are currently programmed to do.

It's not saying OST it's saying OSP as in "operator selectable priority", and once it says that if i hit any other button the OSP disappears.

Edit: just saw your response about OST.

OSP is a feature I do not use, so I am going to bow out. Hope you get it working.

Yes i have programmed the radio, i made a typo in a earlier post it does not say OST it says OSP as in "operator selectable priority".

Silly question, but you have programmed these settings into the radio right? The changes you made MUST be written to the radio before they take effect..

OST should NOT come up when you push ANY of the buttons.

Ok i figured it out, once you get to the channel that you want to be the priority hold down the scan button for 2 seconds, the OSP will appear then you press the C button and you can toggle between the priority being on or off for that channel. This is an awesome feature that will really benefit me with both my 2180 and 3180, Kenwood is always amazing me with all the simple user friendly features they have. Thanks again for the help.
