One thing I've enjoyed since 1977 is looking forward to my next scanner - and it was always a different model. But it didn't escape me that here and on YouTube lots of folks have multiple of the same model. Never quite understood it. (I did understand it for professionals, news agencies, etc.) But the home hobbyist, why? Well, now I know. Despite having a well performing BCD396XT, I found a good deal on eBay. Under $200, no accessories, but I already have them anyway. Just couldn't help myself. My opinion only - if you one doesn't need the Home Patrol features, you can't beat the 396.

Back around 1970, I managed to get by with just one scanner.
I used to buy one, and sell the old when I bought the new model.

Then, around the mid-70's I bought a new Bearcat BC-210 and I no longer needed to buy crystals. ;)
I liked it so much I bought another BC-210 about a year later.
That was the first time I had more than one scanner running at a time.

Then sometime later, the BC-250 scanners came out and I bought three of them over time.
So, then I had 5 scanners and I found that I could keep up with more of what was going on.

Then, Radio Shack came out with the PRO-2006 and I started buying them.
By the time they were on closeout at a very low price, I had 12 of them and retired the Bearcat scanners.
I also bought a few PRO-2042 models and replaced the CPU's in them with the European version.

Then I had a nearby lightning strike around 10 years ago and lost a lot of them to damage.
So I started buying the Uniden DMA scanners.
They worked very well for me and I could use the same software and database to maintain all of them.

Now, I need a spreadsheet to keep track of them.

I think I'm done buying more for the time being. (Unless something better comes along.)
And, I always keep some extra cash tucked in a corner of the wallet in case I find a good deal on a used one. ;)

Here's a list of my current crop of Uniden scanners.

I have more scanners than I know what to do with, plus a bunch of ham radios. You can never have enough backup!

I had always used one scanner at a time up to 2006 when I sold the last one I had at that time. Well mid last year I bought a BC210 and started back into scanning. Three months ago my wife told me to find and buy a digital receiver scanner and I chose the BC396XT. Last Monday I found a BC235XT, BC345CRS, and a Pro2040 for a steal of a deal. I am running all of them. Love it this last few days monitoring the sever weather we have had. I had one locked on the local Skywarn and another on the Weather Bunch.

The PRO 2040 I will be dedicating to a feed I will be starting as soon as the rest of the components come it.

Already told my wife that I will be adding at least one more, a Phase 2 compatible unit.

I've always had a habit of buying two of every radio I have. The reason is simple - if one of my radios is damaged, lost, stolen, stops working or is discontinued then I have a backup in place.

I also have the weird habit of keeping the second radio in its box with all accessories and storing it away in a cupboard :)
