I have seen post about that range from 8hrs to 12hrs with enloop pro 2550's. I have a pro-668 that after the firmware update the battery life was 4 1/2 hours I wiped the scanner redid the update and now get 8hrs to 12hrs on 2400 mil batteries depending on vol settings and traffic. Also the psr800 battery problem was fixed with a firmware update.

I've found it all depends on if you have the back light on, LED flashing, alerts, etc. I can get 12 hours on Powerex 2700 NiMH if I don't have the back light on. But as soon as I turn the back light on, I get maybe 6 hours.

I just got the WS-800 and put Energizer 2700 mAh NiMHs in it after it sucked some new alkies down within an hour. I thought that was pretty excessive. School's still out on the Energizers.

I really doubt the radio is drawing so much current it kills batteries in a few hours...but I could be wrong.

I remember the PSR-800 needed tweaking of the low battery settings in EZScan to get it to stop appearing as though it ate batteries. Once I got mine set properly it ran for 10 or so hours on Eneloops.

To answer the main question... Yes. Firmware 2.6 update addressed this
Version 2.6 - March 3, 2015
"Changed algorithm used for battery level icon.
New default voltages for NiMH icon thresholds" AND UPDATE for the EZscan application AT the same time 2.03 Includes:
Version 2.03 - March 3, 2015
Updated default battery indicator values to match new CPU firmware.
Corrected an issue when attempting to copy custom table values to all sites on P25 systems.
Added button on P25 system custom tables in insert the default Ch-Lo, Ch-Hi, and Offset values"
AND you also had to change the EZScan grid for the batteries too as it didn't automatically change the application form, just did the radio as we discussed in this forum post

Poster MichealBhere reminded us to make sure the EZscan form for NiMh was changed too, mine was NOT even after the update to the radio, so instead of typing it all in? I knew the radio had the update, I simply downloaded the radio/SD card to the form....then it changed to the proper updated numbers. My battery life has been great lately for all of the ones I use from 2500 mAh to the 2700 PowerEX from Maha. 2700s went from 4:30pm till 5:00 AM straight after the update and had some power left over for the next day of about 20 minutes or so.
