Depending on what one considers CNY, E troop could encompass part of it.

But that wasn't the point to begin with.

I just loaded the potential new freqs for Troop A. Immediately on 154.8375 for Erie I hear a Canadian taxi service. They are strong and constantly busy. Should be interesting.

Is the taxi service using a pl tone? The state pd most likely will so you should not have any issues.

Just because the taxi service uses a PL and the SP use a PL that doesn't mean a thing. What happens when they transmit at the same time? Different PL's doesn't prevent intermod, two people can't transmit on the same frequency at the same time regardless of PL. PL helps but doesn't wipe out all distortion caused by different agencies transmitting at the same time.

99% chance the FCC will reject the license anyways because the Canadians will say say no. Within 50 miles of the border the Canadians have to approve it as well as the FCC.

What emissions are on those new potential freqs? FMN, P25? If they are set for P25, then you really won't have to worry about interference issues. And yes, NYSP has been doing an tad of P25 recently.

Like MotoMan said... RF is RF.... regardless of the emission type, they can't be radiating (transmitting) at the same time on the same frequency that close in proximity without clashing with each other. That's what interference is...

Just because they don't hear what each other is saying, doesn't mean they aren't interfering with communications amongst each other. Emissions is simply how the information is passed using the power and frequency assigned to achieve the intended communications.

Basic RF principles apply

+ 1. Took the words right out of my mouth. Unfortunately, many people do not understand these simple RF principles.

Several of those frequencies have been in use for years. "New" listings of those channels are probably for narrowbanding.

This could be very true Dave.....But there new Licenses Mobile Only. With defined areas within said counties. Otherwise one would think narrowbanding and not losing the existing license/Licenses would be more prudent . Which last time i looked has happened.

What are the callsigns of these new licenses? I'd like to see how they are set up. The State Police have not assigned frequencies for use on less than a Troopwide basis generally in the past. I'm not sure why they would start now.
