FNE rebanding is DONE! Huge thanks to the team from Motorola Solutions for their awesome expertise. SERS staff worked seamlessly alongside the Motorolans and the project wrapped up wonderfully.
So what's next?
For rebanding, now that the Fixed Network Equipment (repeaters, cavity filters and combiners, etc) are done, we need to get all the old pre-reband frequencies and data out of the radios in the field. This is referred to as the 'final touch' because it requires touching each of the approximately 4400 radios in the county for the third time (third? I've lost count). This is also an opportunity for our end-users to update their radio programming templates; change any talkgroup names or reorder them in the radio, that sort of thing. Several agencies will be taking advantage of this so SERS will likely be releasing an updated official talkgroup list after final touch, which should occur later this summer.
Also in the mix for this summer... We'll be working with our vendor Aviat Networks to deploy the new Eclipse IP microwave back-haul for the East loop. The microwave provides transport for all of the radio communications and data between sites.
SERS also wants to thank the public and media for your interest in our operation. Your questions help us to better inform you. We also really like the attention...!
