The dispatcher said to switch to p25 mode.

Again, EDACS does not support P25 voice. Only Ageis and Provoice. Only way to 'go P25' is to stop using EDACS and go conventional or to APCO P25 trunk system.

Also P-25 IS monitor able IF it is not encrypted with most any digital scanner.

I wonder if they switched over to the Pinellas county P25 system? If so the question would be encryption or no encryption? If no then we are still good.

Will be there in a few weeks so curious to see what is discovered.

Hopefully not ADP. I don't know if the ADP algorithm will show up as "E" on a scanner.

The land of broken calculators.
Huh? EDACS and P25 do not go together...

I'm wondering if the title should have a period in a key place.

"Clearwaterpd goes p25 edacs no loinger monitorable"

should read;
"Clearwaterpd goes p25. Edacs no loinger monitorable"

Now does it all make sense?! :D

I'm guessing Clearwater was on Edacs. Now they are using the race-to-wastiness of them all, P25. Just a guess.

I am hearing them on the same edacs freqs just garbled and the disp said switch to p25.
Can they use the same freqs and throw a switch I am puzzled.

Clearwater has had plans to switch to P25 for some time with a separate system from Pinellas. I made a post a couple months ago where I heard a P25 control channel on one of the frequencies used for the EDACS system.

Harris makes EDACS and P25 and can provide an easy migration, which could be what they just did. What you should try is programming the frequencies as a P25 system. I can't try as I'm out of town until Friday.

And to clarify some wrong information... P25 is monitorable by digital scanners (just like Pinellas). Not a sad day unless they're using encryption.

Phase 2 with encryption. Guess they solved their problem with people feeding their comms.

It sounds like the damage was done a long time ago.

However, you're encouraged to send your comments to CPD via Facebook, Twitter, E-mail, USPS, or phone. Although a long shot, encryption can be turned off. Perhaps if they see this pissed a lot of people off it may decide otherwise.

They didn't even inform the media this was going to occur and I'm in the process of brewing a storm in that regard. Complete encryption is poor form for local government agencies for many reasons. Your average citizen isn't going to care so it's really up to us to complain... or do nothing.

The Communications Monoliths Latest Cutting Edge Encryption Standards

Harris just closed a $500,000 million dollar deal with the Seminole Hardrock & Miccosukee Casinos with their latest "Unmonitorable by any known scanner technology" communications system.

Not to be undone Motorola just debuted a taxpayer funded $1.5 billion dollar per network law enforcement client only communications infrastructure that even they cant figure out.
