Hurricane hunters

It's my understanding that, with the exception of air traffic control, most of the comms to/from the hurricane hunters is via satellite.

So, check the airport ATC and the regional ARTCC frequencies. They'd be your best bet.

If anyone else has any further information, I'm sure they'll chime in.

Actually they're the 53rd Weather Recon squad of the Air Force Reserves - not 'Marine' at all...

They've been known to use HF frequencies as a backup, and often check in with various Long Distance Operational Control (LDOC) and MWARA frequencies. 13927 khz - a popular MARS frequency - is another place they are occasionally found. Listen for 'Teal' callsigns or 'NOAA43'.

They use 252.8. Callsign is "Teal." I've heard them in Houston on several occasions such as when they re-positioned out of the way of a storm.
