I noticed that some EMS Talkgroups up around the Detroit area (Healthlink, and DMCExpress to name a couple) have been spotted on both ComSource DMR & MPSCS. My question is are these moving off MPSCS in favor of the ComSource or are they gonna use both?

Only radio traffic on ComSource is non-emergent vehicles like wheelchair van transport and crews at special events like Joe Louis & Ford Field will use the special event talkgroups which are also on ComSource.

Not 100% true. Star EMS in Pontiac uses the ComSource DMR as it's primary radio system. You'll hear 400 (wheelchair vans), 500, 600 and 800 series units

I misspoke. What I meant to say is that the only traffic you will hear from Healthlink & DMCare Express is as what I stated. As far as other non Community EMS affiliated companies, I have no clue.

Star EMS and Community EMS use the system to dispatch emergency calls.

DMCare I believe is sharing 100141 with Superior EMS.

Anyway, 100141 dispatches emergency calls also.

Your non emergency EMS TGs will be 102211,102212,102213,102214,and I believe 102215. These are for vans picking up lab results and or transporting patients to rehab facilities.

This Comsource system has excellent coverage and really gets loaded up during the day.

Much easier to listen to it at night when all the gravel haulers and cement companies aren't on the air.

Community EMS does not use this system to dispatch ambulances. All of that traffic is done via the Community EMS MPSCS talkgroup. DMC is also not sharing a talkgroup with Superior. DMC and Healthlink share talkgroups for special events, though not at the same time. All of their regular ambulance traffic is also done via the MPSCS

100281 was listed as Community EMS in the RR database before I began looking at this system.

I do know 100281 dispatches emergency calls. 100282 is CH 2 for 100281.

100141 dispatches emergency calls. 100142 is CH 2 for 100141.

100671 is STAR EMS dispatch. 100672 is CH 2 for 100671.

If Community is not on this system, who is on TG 100281?

And what EMS service is using 100141 then? Superior?

The Community EMS dispatch center (includes Healthlink, DMCare Express, Regional EMS) has 5 talkgroups they use on the system. two event talkgroups for Ford Field, Comerica, and Joe Louis. The other three are lab channels. The only emergency traffic on any of the 5 channels are priority transports from special events, thats it.

Follow up Question

Guys, first, Let me apologize for not responding sooner & thanks for the input. What confused me was whether or not DMC, CEMS, etc. was going to switch off MPSCS in favor of ComSource. I listen to those in the evening & morning.

Currently CEMS, DMC, and Healthlink has no plans to switch from MPSCS to ComSource for regular ambulance traffic.

What radios are you guys using to track these DMR systems?
I've been seeing a lot of business updates, just wondering.

Any DMR should be able to follow the system. It's a bit of a pain to passively scan Connect Plus systems, but it can be done and works pretty well. And of course there is always DSD+.

Update:
TG 100281 is HealthLink EMS (Lincoln Park area), responds with Lincoln Park FD and PD on calls.
Also covers other areas in Wayne. HLink is a part of Community EMS.

Web search shows Lincoln Park contracts HealthLink EMS and this is emergent traffic on this DMR TG.

Comsource EMS/MED TG's:

100141- Superior EMS (Emergent) (Warren, Wyandotte stations, Detroit)
100142- Superior EMS 2 (Transports)
100281- HealthLink EMS (Emergent)
100282- HealthLink EMS 2
100671- STAR EMS (Emergent)
100672- STAR EMS 2
102211- HealthLink Lab couriers
102212- HealthLink Lab 2
102213- HealthLink Transports
102214- EMS Event 1 (Comerica Park/Ford Field)
102215- EMS Event 2

Healthlink is no longer contracted with Lincoln Park. Rapid Response now covers Lincoln Park. Healthlink covers River Rouge, Ecorse, Taylor, and Romulus, while Community EMS covers Southgate. The Community EMS units that are posted in Southgate are dispatched on the Healthlink talkgroup. It should also be noted that all regular (non-event) ems traffic is on the MPSCS. The only traffic on the DMR system is special event traffic like Comerica Park & Ford Field, as well as non-emergent vehicles like lab vehicles and wheelchair vans, as noted in RayAir's list.

I read the FD chief didn't like HLink somewhere but didn't know they had their contract cancelled.

Thanks for your information.

I will update my notes to show Rapid Response for 100281 and 100282.
