Can anyone confirm the PPSTN sys id is 00A

i have a xts5000, and mot's key gen ( trying to unlock trunk features so i can use the xts as a scanner) (yes i know it can be bricked if not careful)

running 00A through the keygen creates a key, but when loaded into cps, it dosent unlock trunk features, which leads me to believe the sys ID may be out.

I was looking through prior submissions and have seen the sys id listed as 000A and A00A. I hope a local who runs Unitrunker or Pro96.com can clear this up.

If it's a 9600 baud system, the system ID will be a 3-digit hex.

What do you mean by "unlock trunk features"? Does the radio already have this system programmed into it?

the CPS for these radios by default have all trunking features disabled. only when the cps sees a valid system key on the radio will it unlock the trunking options.

meaning - since this radio is not registered on the system - i dont have an official system key .with out a system key, programming the xts to monitor the local tower is useless as you cant enter the control channels, the flavor (astro / type II) of the system, or any trunk options.

there are ways to make a system key, but you need the system Id to do that.

The system key does not unlock the trunking features or trunking options of the radio. They're either in the radio when purchased or you add them into to the radio (flash) by purchasing them from Motorola.

What the system key does do is allow you to modify the parameters of a trunking system.

It would allow you to add or change control channels, add talkgroups, bandplans, radio ID, etc, etc.

Post up your flashcode. If you're expecting the system key to unlock the trunking options or features, it sounds like your radio isn't trunking capable.

my flashcode

589008-800486-0

H38 Smartzone
Q173 Smartzone Omnilink
Q806 Astro digital Operation
H14 Enhanced digital ID display
H46 Trunked one touch status message
H43 trunked radio trace/remote monitor
H345 P25 radio authentication
Q667 ADP Encryption software DSP Based
Q446 Channel Announcement

(I followed these instructions for setting up the system http://communications.support/threads/2885-No-Affiliate-Trunked-Scan-Instructions)

If anyone is familiar with Astro Protable cps (ver 20)) and wants to look at my code plug and try to see why I cant hear the PPSTN, I'll Gladly send a copy of the code plug via email.

That radio isn't capable of following the PPSTN system.

You need a radio with P25 trunking in the flash. You'll either have to buy another radio or have that one modified.

As was previously stated, you will need...

Q361: ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking

And seeing how this appears to be a Harris system, you may need a WACN key for it to properly track the system.

xts and ppstn

The sys ID and WACN ID are moot apparently. Being a Harris System, the xts will not do the non affiliate monitor. The security dongle must attached to the computer (contains both System ID and WACN ID - the WACN ID dosen't follow standard Motorola sequencing). This is directly from Mr. Frasar of Office of the Fire Commissioner - PPSTN TECH Supervisior.

At best the XTS radio can be set to monitor the system as a convention scanner - meaning you have no choice on talkgroup monitoring, you get what ever is on the tower and have to have all the voice channels in order.

Oh well, still Happy to have it as a Ham Rig
