Baofeng UV-5R

Hello, Im new to all of this from Colorado Springs. Im using a Baofeng UV-5R to scan police and fire. Using CHIRP what are the settings. I have the Freqs but all of the other information i dont know yet. Thank you for the help.

If it not digital scanner you won't hear much.

You are pretty much out of luck for El Paso county and City Comms. All City of Colorado Springs communications, including CSPD and CSFD, are on DTRS. These talk groups are in the El Paso county section of the database. All digital. Seems digital comms have surfaced aboput as fast as CCR's have entered the States.

155.10 is great for monitoring El Paso County Fire.

151.295 is excellent for monitoring El Paso County Search & Rescue.

Check all the files from 138-470 Mhz for more monitoring of conventional freqs at:

As noted, you've got an analog radio there, and most of the agencies around Colorado went digital in one form or another quite some time back. So apart from what Mick has pointed you to above, there's not a heck of a lot in the way of emergency services to listen to on that rig.
