Euclid F.D. Dead Spot

Not sure what their problem might be. Euclid covers a rather large swath of real estate. Their radio tower on E.222nd st. is quite tall. Maybe they can mount something on the Lincoln Electric wind turbine about a mile south of their tower and/or put something up south of Euclid ave. were the terrain starts to climb as you head towards the Hillcrest/Heights areas. Just a thought. Or perhaps use one of the highrise apt. buildings that border Lake Erie to the north. Euclid--my old stomping grounds. Euclid High School--were I was imprisoned for three years before being paroled in 1973. LOL!

You realize the problem is on the MARCS IP system. The PD even went to the GCRCN. We aren't talking about their old 423 system (..which IMO they should have kept,,:)

The Wickliffe IP tower isn't that far away.

The MARCS-IP Wickliffe tower on Euclid avenue is roughly eight plus miles from the center of Euclid. The next closest tower is at S.O.M. (rt91) and Wilson Mills (Mayfield Hts.?) on the cell (mono pole) tower attached to the FD station. Roughly nine to ten miles distant with intervening high ground.

Euclid (PD & FD) has had problems with coverage for Portables (Walkie Talkies) and vehicle repeaters.

GCRCN has a tower roughly two miles from the center of Euclid. Just south of i90.

So it's not much of a surprise as to which tower (system) provides the better coverage.

Just curious, if the issues with the Marc-IP system can’t be resolved in Euclid and they have to remain on the GCRCN system would they still dispatch from the CVDC in Bedford? Will be there be some type of cost involved for having to use Cleveland system?

Yes Euclid can still use CVDC to dispatch over GCRN but they will lose some radio features and it will not be real efficient. Euclid has not posted any of their June City Council or Safety Committee minutes on the Internet as of today. Previous to June there has been no approval by City Council to pay any dispatch center but CVDC.
