union city

hey fellas, it looks like union city have switched to a p25 phase 2 system. control channel is currently 853.400mhz. so far it sounds very good on my new bcd325p2 scanner.

Just a million-dollar question here - where are you when you are hearing this? That frequency is shared by Atlantic County on their TRS as well, and they are using Phase-II.

I wouldn't be surprised if UC went and did an upgrade with little public fanfare...

They are upgrading is my understanding but I don't know the specifics. It would not shock me to hear this already happened.

They probably should correct their license while they're at it. It shows 20K0F9W, which is pretty much an 'everything all at the same time' designation.

At least they've upped their capacity.

OK if Union City has indeed switched to P25 Type 2 , now need to confirm if they are using the same the talk-groups or was it only a simple mode (Type 1 to Type 2) change and System ID Change. In any case, please send this new information as a submission to RR DB.

NOTHING should be done to the existing Union City TRS DB entry. The new P25 system should be created separately & then we will depreciate the existing Motorola system after proper confirmation of the full switchover.

Someone just needs to submit the SysID & Site ID info. Assuming they stayed Motorola, the WACN should be BEE00.

The talkgroups most certainly not stay the same. There's not a lot of users on the system, so figuring out the new assignments should be fairly easy.

Pretty safe to assume at this point that the 2000-series TG's are law enforcement...

All the core system info has been submitted to me directly. Please work on confirming the TG's as soon as any of you have the time.

union city p25 phase 2

talkgroups are 2001-pd dispatch, 2002 their secondary dispatch, 2003 is their channel 3. and 4001 i think might be public works, need to monitor more. the system id is 0846h-0101. they are currently using the new system as i'm typing and the addresses the units are being dispatched to also confirms it. i am in the immediate area and get full bars on my radio.

A question that pertains to this as well... If Union City is migrating to this new system who has the contract to build it out. Is it Tactical Public Safety ( Harris ) or is a outfit that deals more with Motorola based radios?

The BEE00 WACN clearly marks the system as Motorola, so I highly doubt it's TPS that's doing the job.

4001, 5001, 6001 and 7001 sounds like DPW/transportation type traffic, traffic is almost half English and half Spanish so I can't really figure out who they are
