A friend of mine asked me to program his rs pro 197, is there a way to boost the volume any on this scanner ? I have the volume knob turned up to max & it's not loud as my pro 106. Tks in advanced.

you may have a bad speaker plug in an ext speaker

Just tried the ear jack & it's no louder than the radio speaker, BAD speaker ?

Took the pro 197 apart & found a loose wire for the speaker, fixed it & works LOUD now. Now to put it back together.

If you use arc 500 click "view"---"expert". Then scroll to the right on the "conventional" or "talkgroup" and you'll see a column for "AudioBoost"
Glad it was something simple and you got it going.
