I'll probably be working in Beaver Falls Wednesday, I'll try to listen if I have a chance.

New EF Johnson system. Im suprised there isnt alot of publicity about this, compared to when Onondaga County went live. People will soon have quiet scanners, and not know why. Going to be interesting to see which Agencies and Organizations will be on the system.

Reasonable signal in Beaver Falls, I'll put my scanner in trunk discover mode and see if it catches anything.

ab2ms, I get 99% signal strength right here from Oswego County. One of the towers is in Redfield. Monday the control channels were active; yesterday only for the first part of the morning.

Today, testing on 151.415 & 453.150. Both are coming through emitting a constant loud tone, with a 293NAC

My understanding was 151.415 would be the new fire paging channel.

Got my scanner in trunk discover mode with those frequencies originally posted. Sun is out so I'm running solar power, I'll see if it catches anything.

Had time to take some pictures of the new Marmon Road site. I see 2 microwave dishes, a collinear antenna, 2 bay UHF Folded Dipole, and 2 broadband antennas. I'm thinking the collinear is VHF for the new paging frequency.

New Lewis County Fire/EMS Dispatch/paging channel is on the air. 151.4150 PL 100.0

At this point, it is rebroadcasting comms from the new UHF Digital system (dispatch channel).

From what I was told, the Fire/EMS changeover is complete as of yesterday. I am too far away to monitor the system, and only up there a few times a month, so im of no help with submitting information. Now we just have to wait until Oneida County goes as well.

Does anyone know if a standard police scanner will pick up the new freqs or will they have PL Tones??

PL is optional, it just reduces hearing unwanted signals or noise. If you have a non-digital scanner you could put that 151.415 MHz channel in (even without the PL tone) for fire/end dispatch. However the rest of the system, the UHF part, it is P25 digital and requires a newer scanner.

I just purchased a 996XT for a family member who wants me to program it for them. Being that the TG ID's are not known yet, It will be fine if I set it for Search mode, and everything will come through, correct?

How did Lewis County get their system up and running before Jefferson County, when Jefferson has been working on it longer?

My understanding is that all law enforcement TG's other than dispatch are encrypted. Everything else should come through
