Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm tracking the new Escambia County School System Bus. I have all 4 of the FB2 channels in my scanner and DSDPlus is listening in with no problems. What I am having an issues determining if this is a Trunk or Conventional system. They have 4 channels in use because the dispatcher is always telling the busses to switch to one of the four channels. With the above frequencies (453.6125, 460.1375, 453.4125, 453.6625) I can hear the same transmission coming across more than one frequency at a time, almost like a simulcast systems. Unitrunker is not tracking the systems as a Trunk so I'm guessing it's a Conventional setup. Any help would be appreciated since I'm new to DSDPlus and DMR.

Thanks

All mototrbo has 2 time slots they call it meaning 1 repeater can do 2 conversations at the same time. Now depending on how its programmed you can have certain talk groups only talk on time slot 1 or 2 or if they use capacity plus or linked capacity plus it will just alternate the time slot " rest channel" meaning it will just assign them time slot 1 or 2 as needed. hope i didn't confuse you too much. capacity plus is trunking technically. in a site you can add repeater on and say have 2 mototrbo repeaters and that would allow you 4 time slots or 4 talk paths. if everything is in 1 site id say they're using capacity plus with 4 repeaters.

Thanks Van113
I did notice two of the frequencies are using Cap+ DCC:14 and two are using Cap+ DCC:15. Not sure if that means anything. So if I understand you correctly, I can list all 4 frequencies as conventional DMR in the database?

Hello,

This is a Linked Capacity Plus system with a south site in Pensacola and a north site in Molino. It is trunked, and not Conventional. Unitrunker does not decode DMR trunking.

Each site has two frequencies and supports four Capacity Plus channels. The dispatcher is mentioning channels in the radio, which are programed with talkgroups on the system, not frequencies. The channels in the radio could also select the north or south site as well. Talkgroup 10 appears to be active according to your image.

All radios listen for activity on the Rest Channel (channel 3 in the image). A new series of transmissions by an authorized talkgroup will occur on the rest channel and the rest channel will move to another idle channel. Radios listening to the talkgroup will remain on the channel to receive the transmission while other radios will move to the new rest channel.
