Figured I'd start a thread with communications heard during the UCI Race in Richmond, VA. The traffic that I have heard so far has all been on the Metro Richmond TRS on the following TG's

Henrico Countywide 1 (20112) - HAZMAT Strike Teams working in the downtown area

Henrico Countywide 2 (20128) - Varina Branch

Henrico P/F Tac 1 (17248) - HPD directing traffic around RIR (mention of the Color Run, perhaps comms related to that and not the UCI)

Henrico P/F Tac 5 - HPD Units around Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

RWF1 - Unknown

RWPS2 - Lakeside Branch

RWPS3 - Western City Task Force Units (RPD, RAA, RFD)

RWPS4 - Eastern City Task Force Units (RPD, RAA, RFD)

RW5 - "Operations to ICC"

I'll update this thread as a I hear more, or as I determine proper channel designations

Hearing what sounds like "FOB command" (I could be hearing that wrong) on 151.1375 PL 136.5 (VTAC36 portable repeater). Lots of traffic on this frequency. Hearing mobiles on the input frequency as well. No activity on the other VHF interop freqs as far as I can tell.

Also noticed race-related comms on the FRS/GMRS frequencies as well as the MURS frequencies, mainly MURS 1 (151.820) and MURS 3 (151.940).

Some of the RPD "Tac" TGs (34xxx range) have been active as well, namely 34032 with talkaround/chatter activity relating to the race.

RFD Talkaround 1 (854.0125) has popped up a few times but it's always been too weak to get anything (or a PL tone). RAA EMS 4 has popped up several times as well. The VDEM EOC 1 (155.895 PL 91.5) and RAA EMS UHF 1 (453.975 PL 67.0) conventional repeaters have both popped up with carriers - no actual voice traffic heard.

The chase cars for the time trials appear to have VHF 1/4 wave antennas on them. I haven't noticed any traffic on the Type II or LTR PMR systems that is obviously related to the UCI race.

If anybody in the Richmond area has the ability to listen to the various TRBO trunked systems I'd be interested to hear if they're carrying any UCI race related traffic as well.

Those TGs/frequencies should be even more active tomorrow (Friday the 25th) and this weekend (26th-27th) as the final races are being held over the next three days.

Also hearing simplex activity on 854.2875 PL 156.7 (could have been 854.2375...) that sounds like public safety, heard while in downtown area. Various broadcast/TV cueing and STL activity on the following frequencies:

450.0375 DMR/TRBO
450.3375 PL 67.0 (repeater) - with spectator cheering and other noise in the background
450.3875 PL 118.8 "take your time"
450.4625 CSQ camera crew chatter - continuous carrier, can hear the traffic from 450.9875 in the background with a slight delay
450.6250 DMR/TRBO
450.7250 DMR/TRBO
450.8750 DMR/TRBO
450.9125 CSQ continuous carrier
450.9875 CSQ camera crew chatter with TV or other cue audio in the background
455.3625 CSQ "moto 3"
455.5625 CSQ camera crew chatter - continuous carrier
457.9375 CSQ data bursts/telemetry?

Scanned the 25/26 and 161 MHz broadcast cue/STL frequencies and heard nothing.

All three UHF GRTC channels (452.850, 453.375 and 461.025) were all very active with PL 118.8

Other stuff heard:

151.6250 weak, mobiles, unable to get a tone
151.9400 CSQ, mobiles - talking about road closures, various PL tones (MURS 3)
152.3000 DPL 023 Yellow Cab base (paired with 157.560)
462.5625 CSQ Spectators, Motorola roger beeps, very active (FRS 1)
462.5625 PL 250.3 "do you copy?" - different roger beeps, likely a different group (FRS 1)
462.6000 PL 107.2 Spectators, kids talking on the radio, roger beeps (GMRS/FRS 17)
462.6375 CSQ Family talking about the race, very active (FRS 4)
462.6750 PL 141.3 GMRS repeater
462.7125 PL 179.9 "radio check 123"
464.5500 PL 67.0 "standby 3" "okay sounds good"
467.7125 CSQ Spectators (possibly) - weak, roger beeps heard (FRS 14)
467.8750 PL 67.0 Unknown language

450.3375 is known as "race radio" - it's used by the race officials to announce the action in the race, riders who need assistance, etc.

If there is ANY WAY to stream this online so we can listen - it would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks,

Ben KI4EZO (at the race!)

Unfortunately I myself do not have the capability to stream - perhaps other posters do though.

Since it won't let me edit my previous post with the logs:

Scanned the European PMR446 frequencies (446.0 to 446.2 in 6.25 kHz steps) and heard nothing.

450.9875 - same as before, now showing a 91.5Hz PL on my Pro-96, was showing CSQ earlier

450.3375 / 455.3375 PL 67.0 "Race Radio" (per post above) mobiles now as loud as repeater output

456.8125 CSQ Unknown language with conversations in the background. Nothing heard on 451.8125 or 461.8125 (+/- 5MHz). This is either simplex or a repeater with a really strange offset. Conversations in various languages heard in background with music, etc. Possibly an open mic somewhere. I'm able to hear this on my external antenna and with my scanner's rubber duck. Very loud. Maybe a foreign TV station's STL/cue frequency? EDIT: 456.8125 is apparently a common low power itinerant frequency. This signal is very strong though - and has been a continuous transmission since I tuned in.

462.5625 CSQ "Williams are you available?" "Eli are you available?" Different group than the previous two reported on the earlier logs. Lots of people using FRS 1 when there are plenty of other clear FRS channels available
462.7250 CSQ Spectators (GMRS/FRS 22)
462.9125 DPL 131 "One hundred forty"

Many UHF frequencies are suffering from heavy intermod resulting from the frequent traffic on the GRTC UHF repeaters combined with the 454 MHz range TRBO trunked systems as well as the powerful Philip Morris and Richmond Convention Center repeater systems. That could be the reason why my Pro-96 is now decoding a tone on 450.9875.

Race freqs/comms monitored today in Prince George Co.

After reading the other posts I was curious as to what I could receive at my location about 20 air miles south of Richmond. Using one of my analog ICOM R7000s modified for DMR reception and a RF pre-amp tower mounted connected to one of my Scantennas below is what I monitored over the past 2 hours with good to excellent reception:

Note: the frequencies listed are not typos. They are authorized frequencies for their respective ITU regions authorized for temporary use in the US (ITU Region 2) for the race.

Frequency(mhz) Type Color Code Language Activity

450.0375 MOTOTRBO 1 English(British?) TV Control

450.3375 Analog(PL=67.0Hz) French Canadian? Don't know. Don't speak French

450.6255 MOTOTRBO 3 American English Unk.racing team? Not TV control

450.6755 MOTOTRBO 5 American&(British?) Race Control

450.6795 MOTOTRBO 5 English(British?) Periodic racer updates

450.8735 MOTOTRBO 9 French French racing team? Do not know

450.9875 Analog(NPL-very unwise) English(American) Unk TV network control

Since the comms I heard often were not helpful in specifically iding the user(s), I made best guesses at user ids.
