I am a volunteer firefighter and just bought the bearcat bct15x scanner as to have something my wife can listen to while I'm out on runs. I'm having issues programming my local frequencies into it. This is my first scanner and have no idea how to get started. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok. What happens if the dispatch is on this new MARCS system. Can I still set up my bct15x to get those frequency. I've gotten a few replies to state my scanner will no longer work with it.

What county and department are you with? counties that page fire/ems retain a VHF/UHF frequency for paging, and can simulcast the page with a MARCS talkgroup.

If you mean Ohio MARCS or MARCS-IP, the 15 is not compatible with those systems.

It is not that it won't work any longer it never would have worked. That scanner can't decode the P25 but you can still hear all the conventional freqs. So unfortunately you won't be able to hear the MARCS IP with that radio.

Also you can't have your scanner scanning and do the fire tone out.
