• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I don't. Don't know what the magazine is about. But looks like CB related and not ham, so the people reading the CB thread might have ideas.

Well they do review 10 meter radios

Those aren't real 10 meter radios. They are CB radios disguised as amateur radios to try to get around the rules. The first thing they discuss is how to get them to work on illegal Good Buddy.

I thought I posted this on the CB Radio Forum. Anyway, I asked a question about getting a hold of the people at CB Radio Magazine and look how the conversation was spun. If you don't know the answer to a question, don't reply. What value are you adding if you just comment without providing an answer? I might as well pay you to stand around and remind me when the microwave dings. :S

My question to them was going be regarding weather radio functionality and where it comes from with regard to mobile radios such as CB or 10 meter. Does anyone know anything about that question?

If you didn't see a "contact..."

logo or click here sign, then you're SOL. I didn't see any contact via there. And as you have the right to post what you like, so do the other members of this forum.
Concerning your question, "...going be regarding weather radio functionality and where it comes from with regard to mobile radios such as CB or 10 meter." Simple; from the NOAA station nearest you. Generally you turn the knob to NOAA or whatever they use and you'll receive the latest report. Is that what you were asking for?

If you do a "whois" lookup on the DNS record, they also list the address and phone number for the owner.

CB RADIO MAGAZINE web page, has been left for shall we say history. The owner no longer active or keeps it up to date, he has moved on.

I think he quit it earlier this year or last year.

Yes, NOAA, so do all radios have NOAA on them? Can it be added?

CD and NOAA

NOAA is in the VHF 162.xx range and cannot be just added to any radio. Most 2 meter amateur radios can easily pick it up, but CB frequencies are nowhere near the 162.xx. All radios do not have it automatically.

As 'jaspence' posted:

"All radios do not have it automatically." Only a very few CB transceivers have the NOAA weather frequencies in them. And no, you can not add it to the CB by doing any mods. CB freqs are in the 27Mhz range, whereas the NOAA freqs are 162Mhz. Purchase a scanner; it will have those NOAA stations available for you.

The 980 has a separate circuit built to receive NOAA.
