1E8

Just checked Dauphin County and still showing 1E8.

RE-checked Adams Co and also displays 1E8. I wonder if
that was a program over site. It has been that way since the
system came on the air.

The Adams system had been showing two frequencies that
the FCC had cancelled four years ago for failure to construct.
They were only corrected last week.

I have not heard any rumors regarding a regional system in
this area. That would be a major fight and would be like having
Maryland announce tomorrow that all radios in the county will only
use First !
Most of our serious contributors in the Harrisburg area have departed
over disagreements with various moderators. If something should
surface, will leave everyone know.

Side note: Adams is expecting to go live with police first using hand helds around
October 20-22 and others later. Most units have so many antennas, they will need to
remove something to make room for the 800 antennas. I have only seen two
police cars with mobile rigs and and antennas and no fire equipment with antennas or mobiles..

I agree and really don't think this is an indication of something regional - more likely something that needs to be updated/reprogrammed.

Just as in Maryland, most larger jurisdictions - like York, Lancaster, etc. aren't willing to give up any control over their own system.

Additionally, I'd think that if any type of regional system was planned, it would be well known by now.

Still, the fact that both are 1E8 makes me wonder...

The only thing that crosses my mind is Adams County purchased
a used analog trunk system about five years ago and was using it to keep
some frequencies active during construction. It was used as a
conventional repeater but wondering if perhaps the tech copied the
system ID in the existing system. This used gear was purchase from a
department in Dauphin County
Will alert the county EMA director to check his info..

Normally motorola will not duplicate system id's when sharing infrastructure. What i am suspecting is possibly dauphin and adams are sharing the backbone of the system but dauphin went ahead with UHF while adams went 800.

We have the same issue out west with ICORRS. Most counties went with the 800 system but Lawrence decided to use VHF phase 2 but will be tied into the backbone and is same system ID but a different site number.

Be interesting to see what talkgroup ID's Adams County ends up using. With the way Dauphin's talkgroups are set up I wouldn't be surprised to see other agencies in the area using talkgroups that don't match up with any Dauphin uses (York and Lancaster all use talkgroup ID's that don't match any used in Dauphin but they have their own system ID's).

Used analog 800 trunk system? Sounds like maybe Derry Township.

The equipment was from Derry Twp. Some of it is in use at the Court House in
single site repeater mode for the security crew. The frequency in use is listed as
part of the new trunking system, but not being used. Don't know if it will remain or
eventually be phased out and the court house crew moves to the trunking system.
I don't know what equipment they have but it has some of the best sounding audio
heard in this area.......

A WACN of BEE00 is standard. +1 on what OBL said.

Both Dauphin and Adams are part of the South Central Regional Task Force so it is possible that a regional plan is being implemented like the Region 13 Task Force (ICORRS) did. I guess we will see when York's new system comes online if they have the same sys ID.

There is precedent for even widely separated users to share a backbone. In OH there is a trunked system that is shared by a county in NW ohio as well as one near Cleveland (NE OH). They are separated at at least 100 miles. You would never think the two would share a system.

In ICORRS, the entirety of Region 13 is eligible, and even Lawrence County is not more than 25 miles separated from Armstrong County. (each shares a border with Butler County)

Any response from the EMA director on the SYSID (1E8)?

I will change a few words in your first sentence. . . . . "There is MAJOR COST SAVINGS for even widely seperated users to share a backbone"

The master site (core backbone of the ASTRO25 trunking Zone) can run a few million dollars for all the equipment, software, installation, training, optimization, etc.

In ICORRS, the IP Backbone was created amongst all the counties almost 10 years ago. It was updated, enhanced, and massive bandwidth added over the last few years for numerous collaborative efforts that promotes sharing of such centralized systems able to handle many entities.
