I have a bcd996p2 scanner that I am trying to plug into a amplifier (Line In) I have had three of these scanners now and none of them will output audio out of the external audio out jack. I am not using the record out just in case you think I may be plugged in to the wrong one.

I have a bc15t Scanner hooked to a separate (same model amplifier) and it works great. I can not figure this out.

I called Uniden Tech Support and they were useless, I talked to a guy for 45sec and he said he couldn't help me. He recommended that I buy a different Phase II Scanner, What a joke!

Please Help

I am using the audio out jack on the 996p2 to drive an external speaker. Have not tried it into an amp. Are you getting audio out to a speaker?

It is likely that the impedance on your line in input is too high and is a mismatch to the scanner's external speaker output. You need to use the REC output for high-impedance inputs (like LINE IN jacks).

I would back up, first check if "any "external speaker works. If they do, use computer speakers that are amplified and see if they work. I have an old set, and they work fine. If all that works, then again try the setup you have first been using,

Well I am using some adapters to connect to the front stereo jack and its working, So for the time being that is how we are going to use it. But I don't want to leave it like that. I may have to get an attenuating cable from the rat shack.

Thanks for everyone's input.

BCT15 (circa 2005) doesn't use the same audio circuit as BCD996P2 (2015).

I can verify this... as the P2 has really low audio output compared to the 996XT... both using a Uniden BC-20 external speaker. Go figure.
