i just restarted to use my psr-500. i read the easier to read psr-500 manual. only one of my frequencies in the radio is digital. the volume difference between analog and digital is tremendous. what is the correct setting on digital agc to deal with this. is it on or off ?.

I keep digital AGC turned on which evens out the audio level of the digital signal. If it is turned off some voices will be loud while others faint. After this, you can decide whether audio boost should be turned on for various channels to help even things out.

Leaving AGC OFF produces more natural sounding P25 audio with the downside being variations in audio level. I used to keep AGC on for monitoring P25 TRS Talkgroups but it became extremely fatiguing over time as the background noise level was just too distracting.

YMMV
