Hello all,

I see the FCC has just granted a couple of new licenses for Montgomery County:

154.7325 repeater
155.0925
154.6575

All emissions are licensed for analog FM.

Just wondering if anyone in the group had any info on their intended usage...

Kevin,

My information is limited, but I understand the plan is to phase out low band on the fire side. I have several meetings on the book for the next week or two and may be able to get more solid info. I'll let you know when I get some more details.

Is there anything new about when the county will be going high band on the fire radios?
I spoke with the Fire Coordinator down there a couple of weeks ago. He confirmed that they're going to move everything to high band VHF, but no timetable is in place yet. There's a lot of construction that has to take place first. If you look at the all license grants, they're going to have a bunch sites to complete and test long before they consider an actual move. And, there's the challenge of replacing all the low band gear out among the agencies.

It will be a while. However, for those in or close to the county, I'd suggest programming in and scanning those frequencies now. You'll then be in a position to learn about testing as it happens.

Saw this today, would these allocations be part of the previously discussed FD low-band to VHF migration?

Correct me if I'm wrong... didn't Montgomery County either simulcast or switch to 159.285 a few years back? Was this abandoned?

They are re-doing their whole system beginning with some new frequency licenses last year. I don't have the final configuration yet.

Looking forward to seeing this switchover. Im about a 3 miles from the Montgomery County/Schenectady County line, So I will make sure I program in those frequencies and monitor for testing.
