Heard LA County Fire calling area stations for radio checks. I just happened to hear it while testing my old PRO-2053. Signal was clear from where I'm at in North SD County.

LA County Fire is up grading it's VHF System and Microwave links. Probably one of the remote base stations on one of our 'hills'.

Last week I heard LAC doing morning radio checks, they were referring to it properly as "VFIRE21".

That is VFIRE21

LA City, LA County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, Ventura County now use VFIRE21 to coordinate comm plans on 'auto aid' aka mutual aid incidents.
