I recently purchased a regency bearcat crystal scanner and I am looking for crystals for it. I see a website, Kens Electronics. Has anybody ordered from them and are they good to deal with.

thanks for any info.

At quick glance, Ken's crystals appear to be for specific use (CB, ham, military, etc.). Getting crystals for those public safety frequencies in the VHF band might be difficult. And, the cost of those little jewels might make the purchase of an newer, upgraded scanner more cost efficient.

The this company:

Jan Crystals
P.O Box 60017
Fort Myers, Fl. 33906
Phone # 1-239-936-2397
Fax # 1-239-936-3750

You will have to call or fax. They do not have a shopping cart style website.

I have done business with them in the past, no problems.

There are 10.7 and 10.8 I.F. crystals that have the same case style.... One was radio shack and the other was bearcat...

I think if you hunt around the internet (Google searches, Ebay, etc.) you will find some, if not all of the crystals you are looking for. Just make sure you get the ones for Bearcat scanners and not for Regency or Radio Shack brand scanners.

Also, I would bet that crystals will run you $5.00 each or more plus shipping. That comes out to roughly $40.00 for the crystals you want. At that price you could get a used, programmable scanner and not have the hassle of looking for new crystals in the future.

At any rate, good luck in your search!

Reading this reminds me that back in the day you could get any freq for less than $5, you just had to wait longer if they had to grind one for you---

I used to have a plastic baggie of about 20 Bearcat crystals, mostly VHF-low band for Nebraska and Arkansas but also some VHF high band. I think that I finally tossed them out.

Gambill1, I'm going to be gone this morning,

when I get back this afternoon I will see what I have. IF I have them or some of them, you can have them for just the postage. BUT, that's if I have any. There's about 200 crystals in my junk box, of all different freqs, case style, etc.

I have ordered from gcomradio on ebay before for crystals and had no problems. Just have to message them first to make sure they have what you are looking for. Charged $5 per crystal which is about average. And for those that keep saying just to never mind and buy a new scanner it's not about the cost of getting crystals as compared to a new scanner - it's about the enjoyment of getting a classic scanner up and running again and still being able to enjoy it! Oh and if anyone does have crystals they are looking to sell PM me cause I am still looking for some as well.

Gambill1, I just checked my supply

and none fit your requirements. The freqs you need are as follows:

155.145 = 48.115 Mhz
151.100 = 46.76667 Mhz
155.625 = 48.275 Mhz

155.745 = 48.315 Mhz
154.280 = 47.82667 Mhz
153.830 = 47.67667 Mhz

I have a lot of crystals and most of them were for various other applications.
Sorry I couldn't help you out.
Check out those that are posted by Ryangn and Rk911. International Crystal would more than likely have or make for you.
