Hi All,

I know NSW Police are using digital radio now even in rural areas, however they are not yet encrypted. I'm relatively new to scanning and want to know:
1. How are they using digital comms in an area that has no GRN coverage
2. How to scan their digital non encrypted channels on my UBCD396XT

Cheers

Hi,

They have encrypted in some rural areas already with more to come. Basically anything surrounding Sydney is now encrypted.

1. The police have their own PMR radio network so they don't rely on the GRN. Much the same for all the other emergency serivces in non-GRN areas.
2. Very easily, program the frequency in, use the NAC 61F if your in a rural area and off you go.

Cheers
