855.0375 - Crested Butte Ski Resort, Color Code 1
855.0625 - Crested Butte Ski Resort, Color Code 1

Thanks for the information!

Any objections to removing the Smartnet system for Crested Butte and replacing it with a DMR system?

I would say yes, all staff has 800 MHz MOTOTRBO radios and there is no other 800 MHz systems in Crested Butte except DTRS

I will be there next week for some skiing. I suppose we should assume that any or all of their seven licensed frequencies (855.0125, 855.0375, 855.0625, 855.2875, 855.3125, 856.8125, 857.8325) could be in use, though the database only lists five of these for the old analog system. Any additional information would be welcomed and helpful.

Good catch. I have monitored the current DMR system as listed in the database with no issues. This looks like all new frequencies. I wonder if they are building a completely new system or merely expanding what they have now? And of course when? Thanks.

Back to Crested Butte Resort. I have been here for several days and have only heard traffic (DMR) on 855.0375 and 855.0625 as reported by CqDx at the beginning of this thread. I have been conventionally monitoring all seven licensed frequencies off and on and I haven't heard any analog and only DMR traffic on these two frequencies. Those two frequencies appear to be a CAP+ system, per my 436HP (color code 1). I have been unable to get any results with the LCN finder, but with only two frequencies this is easy to sort out (0625 seems to be LCN-1). I am surprised at the use of only two frequencies, if that is in fact the case.

Interesting; I'm guessing they had the 800 MHz frequencies for some time, starting before the 700/800 band was re-allocated to Public Safety.

Not all that surprising. I believe only the NPSPAC channels (806-809/851-854 MHz) are exclusively allocated for public safety use. The rest of the 800 MHz band does allow for other users who are not public safety.

Oh I didn't know that. At least in the Denver-Metro area, it appears virtually no private entities established new 800 MHz LMR systems in the last 5-10 years.

It looks like Copper Mountain is recovering from some lost paperwork. They have been operating on expired licenses for 1 to 2 years (WPII860 & WQBB875). They were able to relicense a little over half of the frequencies they have been using, but they will need to change several frequencies to comply with their new licenses.

WQYU577 replaces WPII860.
  • 855.0625 will be replaced with 855.5125 at Site 2.

WQYW488 replaces WQBB875.
  • 854.8375 will be replaced with 855.2875 at Site 1.
  • 855.2625 will be replaced with 855.6875 at Site 3.
  • 855.6625 will be replaced with 855.9375 at Site 3.

Just something mildly interesting, whoever did the license for WQYW488 duplicated Location #2 and #5. There's some minor emission differences, but everything else is exactly the same.

Quite a number of Hytera XPT systems popping up.

451.9500 - XPT DCC:1
452.3500 - XPT DCC:1
452.3625 - XPT DCC:1
452.6750 - XPT DCC:1
461.8000 - XPT DCC:1 Today
464.0500 - XPT DCC:1 TG 28 Road Flaggers
464.2500 - XPT DCC:1

Odd data from DSD plus on the Network and Site, it changes all the time.
