I just purchased my second BCT15X scanner (loved the first one, had to get a second), so i got everything set up and i cloned it exactly the same as my original 15X. For some reason the new scanner backlight is significantly dimmer then the original, yes they or both on high brightness. What would cause this? I hope i'm just missing something simple, is this something that needs to be returned due to being defective?

Same power source? Maybe they changed the design.

Yes and i even swapped power supplies and still the same, i have both using the same firmware 1.05.03.

What are the serial numbers? (minus the last 2 or 3 digits)

Old scanner-36126028000739
New scanner-36126058001207
The sum on the old is 0B6, and the sum on the new is 0B9. I'm not sure what that means or why it's different.

I'm at a loss. I can think of a number of possibilities, but most likely is a simple change in LED sources. Given the x36 issue, I think that may be very likely.

I seriously doubt a CSR will have an answer. Maybe UPMan will chime in. Even he might not know.

So when the scanner is on and you press the Volume button, does the display brightness change at all??

Yes it goes through all the different levels but the brightest setting is still dimmer then the brightest of my original scanner.

Yes, they are both set to 8
