I remember seeing an antenna that looked just like the Radio Shack 800 MHZ rubber duck with a BNC connector but it had a SMA connector for a Uniden scanner. Does anyone know what the model is?

Thanks

Most Motorola 800 MHz antennas for the XTS line will have SMA antennas.

I just purchased from R/S their Cat# 2000283 for $24.99. It has a BNC connector but with the SMA to BNC adapter that comes with the 396, 436 etc scanners it works fine on my BCD436HP. E bay has both the antennas and adapters listed under Scanners.

Why buy the RS version in BNC and use an adapter, which creates a loss, when you can buy the same antenna from Remtronix without needing the adapter. Both antennas are made by the same company.

The BNC adapter helps stabilize the antenna against the scanner. The SMA connection puts a great deal of stress on the connector. There is not enough loss on the adapter to make any difference.

Just ordered a couple of the SMA version earlier this week to try instead of using adapters. They are back ordered, but expected to ship late March.
