Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Quick question about the PTT Proceed tone. I have it programmed into my NX-700 but I just came across this video of the NX-800 and the PTT Proceed tone is similar but notably different. Is this because its the UHF Version? Trunking? or am I missing this optional feature to change the tone?

PTT side tone for MDC/Fleetsync and the PTT Proceed tone a mark ably different in the NX-x00 series. That tone is for MDC-1200/Fleetsync the PTT proceed tone sounds very much like the Motorola TPT

Pretty much everything has already been said that needs to be said. That's actually my video, believe it or not.

The PTT Proceed tone is not to be confused with the FleetSync/MDC-1200 ID sidetone. Two different tones, each for a different purpose. If you watch my original video of this radio before I re-programmed it, it was using the proceed tone before I programmed it for FleetSync.

In KPG-112D...On my TK-5820, there is an option under "Edit" "Optional Features" then "Optional Features 2". If you check the PTT proceed Tone it sounds just like the Motorola Talk Permit Tone for trunked systems. This is for Conventional Systems only. I'm using this with MDC-1200 post. The video sounds like the pre Fleetsync talk permit tone.

Which reminds me of a question I had....do the new NX-5000 series have this same PTT proceed Tone similar to the TK-5000 series ? If so, does it mimic the Motorola TPT like the TK-5000 series ?
