Anyone tried the new zinc rechargeable batteries in their HTs?

Battery Cells

The are listed on this page, scroll down to find them.

I am curious about the voltage and if they caused any problems.

The voltage won't be a problem, new alkaline cells will have about that voltage. But the current capacity is on par with NiCd cells so, if NiCds work in your device, where is the advantage of NiZn? It doesn't look like you could use your current NiCd charger to recharge these so you would have to buy a new charger. How long will the retain their charge? How flat is the discharge voltage curve?

Have a set as a backup powerpack. IIRC the Wiki has more information on them. For the first 50 uses they are supposed to be excellent, and then something about performance degrading in some way, which is the primary reason they never made it big time.

But if you want a set for occasional use, that are rechargeable without the problem of 1.2v per cell, they're your ticket.
