• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm currently monitoring a business that at the moment utilizes 3 TRBO repeaters, each repeater with its own frequency (UHF) but different color codes and time slots. All users of the repeaters transmit on the same Group ID of 1 on whatever channel they're assigned. I've programmed this system into an XPR6550 for RX only and receives fine my only problem is that regardless of which channel im listening to (i.e. Custodial) the screen always displays that its a Group Call from ADMIN. I've made sure that each channel's RX group list was programmed to it's perspective users. Does anyone know what steps I can take to remedy this, or if it can be done with all having the same Group Call number?

If I understand correctly you are seeing only one radio ID transmitting regardless of the radio. It is possible they never setup unique radio IDs and every radio has the same. This would be a major problem if trying to more than just group calls. I don't know how the 6550 is set to display radio IDs but in the 2.0 radios if there is no alias it displays the radio ID #.

The radio ID's do show up, each one has it's own, as an example radios 1200-1250 use the Custodial repeater and the Custodians talk on that repeater with a group call of 1, Admin staff radios 1300-1350 use the Admin repeater with a group call of 1. Private calls are enabled.

1 of them is named Admin for the Admin channel but the other 2 are named different.

You mentioned the group ID is 1 for all. So if each group ID is 1 it's only going to display one name. No matter what channel you are on.
