I have 2 GE M-PA radios and I'm hearing them just fine the only channels that need to be encrypted are the investigation channel and SWAT channels

There are some building inspectors and a few others on the P25 system.

So far, my BCD-436 is monitoring decently on this P2 system, from the tech center anyway. Good to know, as there aren't many other P2 systems in the area to play with.

How about a CC so we can start the logging process? I checked all 20 EDACS frequencies for a P25 CC signal and either missed it, or they are using something else. If the do indeed plan on rolling out mid-may on this, they need to be testing somewhat.

As of right now I am not able to track the Aurora P2 system on my bcd436hp. I wonder if they have thrown the switch on systemwide encryption. I can't imagine the system is down at the moment as I believe there are already some city departments using it.. PD for sure is still using the EDACS system though. I have programmed in all listed system freqs for the EDACS system for my P2 entry. And, am not finding a 'LNK' control channel today.

The system is still online and there is plenty of traffic in the clear. It looks like a good number of public works has switched over as well as some of the Aurora Fire units.

The general breakdown of TG appears to be the following:
391##: Aurora Fire Department
392##: Aurora Public Works
394##: University of Colorado PD
395##: Aurora Police Department (not yet active)

Here is the most recent site file I have:

It would appear that Aurora Fire Department and Falck has officially transitioned to the new system. The dispatchers on the fire side switched over to the new dispatch consoles on Thursday and almost all traffic heard are now on their new P25 radios. There are still a few stragglers, but I imagine that those may disappear soon.

Traffic is still patched to the old system, but I would definitely work towards getting a P25 Phase II solution up and running if you do not yet have one. As far as I can tell, one of the side effects of the transition is that Aurora Fire Dispatch on EDACS is now mostly in ProVoice. It does revert to analog every once in a while, but a lot of the time it is in entirely ProVoice. As a result, it may be silent for periods of time for some listeners.

That said, the TGs that would be nice to follow are:
39101: Aurora FD Dispatch
39102: Aurora FD Tac 2
39103: Aurora FD Tac 3
39104: Aurora FD Tac 4
39105: Aurora FD Tac 5
39106: Aurora FD Tac 6

Too bad this is considered acceptable.

In my mind it's not, but no one does anything about it. Not enough people care, so they get away with complete secrecy. I suppose the media gets very controlled access or they would publish articles about it, but the he!! with the people who pay their salaries and buy their equipment for them.

The big media stations will NOT get special access, they have to give equal access to everyone who can plausibly claim to be involved in news gathering & dissemination of information relevant to matters of public concern. If Aurora offers selective access only to big media outlets, but not citizen journalists, folks may seek judicial review to remedy the First Amendment concerns.

So, I presume they will (1) offer no such access to anyone, or (2) offer equal access to all types of journalists, whether or not they work for a media organization.

p.s. re: Fort Collins, someone in that area really ought to request access to their media radios; I'm not aware anyone has actually requested, and been denied, the same access available to other "big" media outlets.
