Does anyone have any tips for monitoring the show?
I see that scanners are not allowed into the event.

Why are scanners not allowed? Do they want attendees to rent scanners, instead?
BG..
"Operational Security" They don't want you listening to PS ops, Mil Ops, and knowing they know your planning to blow yourself up and shoot everyone else first. Oh and reason 2: Same reason they don't like scanners on aircraft.... Hint - "sensitive avionics"
Ring any bells?
Yes 90% BS as usual but there it is.
Most organizers of air shows are prudent to not allow radios that transmit, especially air band, for obvious reason. Those that ban receive only radios probably simply do not fully understand or appreciate the difference. That’s a shame because virtually half the experience for me is listening to what I’m seeing.Does anyone have any tips for monitoring the show?

I enjoyed the show tremendously but the Dept of Homeland Security is the one that issued the no scanner directive. IMHO it is useless because they allow cell phones and as we all know there are apps that allow us to listen to audio streams from local scanners.
So....
Nest time, I'll set up an AirShow stream and use my cell phone in just such a fashion. Anyone else want to listen?
As for frequencies.... I bought the Teak Airshow Guide by Larry Van Horn (monitoring times alum) for Kindle and it proved to be accurate for today's show.
I recorded both shows from my home location about 20 miles from the airport. Some of the transmissions are a little weak and some are nonexistent due to the distance and their being close to the ground but both are very good listening. I can email either file to anyone who wishes.
At the Saturday show one of the Angels had a small mishap as you can hear him telling the rest about it at around the ten minute mark which is interesting. I missed the first few minutes of the Sunday show due to being away from the scanner.
The Sat show is about 12mb and Sun show 9mb both in wav format.
I am interested to hear more about this 'mishap'
Its not perfectionist. Its pure safety! In precision performance flying like they do using jet aircraft, the over or under application of power, slightest directional mistake, or misjudgment can be, and has been fatal!
