Hello from Central Florida,

A friend of mine has a Pro-2096 with poor sensitivity and no reception for analog and digital 800 MHz trunk systems. I programmed his radio, and programmed mine identically. My radio receives trunk systems well, but his has no reception on 800 MHz, although it does receive VHF and UHF. This occurs with the radios side by side, and swapping antennas makes no difference.

I contacted Radio Shack via its website. The company said it does not repair scanners, and referred me to my friendly neighborhood Radio Shack store.

Can anyone advise whether repairs are available via local stores, or any other source? And any idea on repair cost?

thank you

Sounds as though the variable resistor VR4 is out of adjustment, at least that is what can happen to the PRO 96 which is the handheld version of the 2096. There is a large number of threads on the subject under:

The RadioReference.com Forums > Scanners, Receivers and Related Equipment Forums > Radio Shack Scanners
Modifying a RS Pro96. Modifying a RS Pro96.
