Bcd996xt vs bcd436hp

I got my bcd436hp back from uniden (fixed the clock issue for free) and I continue to be floored by the great difference in audio deciding between the 996xt and the 436hp. The 996xt sounds way worse than the bcd436hp and I never have been able to figure it out. Primarily the 996xt is worse on the simulcast audio decoding for say fire/rescue.

The 436 has better filters. That may well explain the difference if you have adjacent channel users who are strong.

I'm intrigued by your comment that the 436hp has better filters. What better filters do they have? For my replacement scanner in the car, I was debating on whether or not to get a uniden bcd996p2, a bcd536hp or get a whistler ws-1098.

I've gotten sick and tired of hearing the audio distortion on my 996xt. What do you guys recommend?
