It looks like champion EMS has changed from using LTR to UHF conventional. It appears that DFW communications took one of the channels from the LTR system at each site and set it up as a conventional repeater. I have identified a few towers but could use some help from others in the area to ID the others. Looks like all towers are using a 103.5hz pl.

Could be any of the following. PL should be 103.5
451.9625
452.0125
452.2625

anyone heard why they aren't using the LTR system anymore?

if Para078 maybe can confirm for me (not good enough signal where I am) but Wills Point is possibly 452.0125 with a 464 DPL

I'm thinking they may be getting ready to convert to TRBO at some point so they are probably about to change out radios and the cost of adding LTR to TRBO radios is not worth it for short term use. That is just my guess.

Last time I listened they were on 451.9875. It's been awhile. They are so busy the scanner spends too much time on that channel.

Just confirmed Wills Point on 452.0125 DCS: 464. I had been wondering what happened to them.

One other note, I was listening to the Linden frequency and heard what could have been a TRBO buzz. But it was really faint and distant so couldn't say for sure. But am hearing Flight 4 Life on Wills Point again, though the audio is horrible compared to the LTR.

This is what I came up with over the weekend.

461.950000 Kilgore CTCSS 103.5
466.175000 Longview CTCSS 103.5
466.175000 Henderson CTCSS 103.5
463.312500 Marshall DCS 343
451.900000 Lindale CTCSS 103.5
461.437500 Tyler CTCSS 103.5

It appears the dispatcher still broadcasts over all the frequencies on the initial call out.

466.175 would be a repeater input. Try 461.175 and see what you hear. Thanks for you help IDing these changes.

Northeast TX Champion EMS services and comms

The "Daingerfield Tower" operates on 451.975. It handles a lot of dispatch traffic for Morris, Cass, Gregg, Camp, Upshur and a few other area counties that don't have their own EMS agency. You also hear a lot of relocation dispatches as they "float" ambulances and supervisor paramedic units (Q1 and Q2 in SUVs) around to keep coverage.

For example, Morris County contracts with Champion to base one ambulance in Daingerfield, which is also the first unit dispatched for Naples, Omaha, Hughes Springs, and Lone Star calls. So when that medic unit is out on a call, they float one over from an adjacent area-which creates a ripple effect as they shift other units around to cover those vacancies. If the cover unit hasn't arrived yet and another call comes in, the next arriving ambulance may be coming out of Linden, Avinger, or Ore City. 20 minute+ arrival times are common. Helicopter transport is a weekly or more thing, but the helicopter won't come unless an ambulance or Q unit is on scene or will arrive before the helo.

First responders and Q unit supervisor paramedics do what they can to keep them alive until transport arrives.

It's a heckuva way to run a railroad.

Do you happen to know the PL/DPL for the Daingerfield tower?

Negative. I was just trying the different trunked channels on my scanner one at a time and found it. Does not seem that they change from this channel in this area-so I guess it doesn't really operate as a true trunked system. But then again, I don't really know that much about trunked systems. I think it's all snake oil sold by Motorola, EF Johnson, etc. to solve problems that may have never existed.

I'm old school like that.
