The Rutgers Commencement is this Sunday, and President Obama is addressing the class at HighPoint Solutions stadium. There is already a lot of activity on campus (a V-22 is doing low flybys right now). Any chance there will be good listening opportunities, or will everything be encrypted? Any ideas what frequencies to monitor?

With both the Piscataway TRS being fully encrypted & all the primary RU talkgroups on the NJICS being the same, I'd suggest following what ecps92 said & possibly using 'close call' on your scanner (assuming the radio you have has that & you're close enough).

StateCom 5 is carrying a lot of traffic for this right now. Also catching traffic on StateCom 7. The units definitely sound like digital radios patched through to analog, but nothing is coming over the NJICS Hunterdon site...

Happy listening!

Sadly to say I didn't even turn a scanner on. I'm sure I would have heard the State Police stuff but I don't even think I have secret service in either. If they are in the area, aren't all the good comms encrypted?

All over the map.
Also make sure the Metro-New York ATF and DHS frequencies are in your radio, including DHS Aviation frequencies. It's not uncommon for an OMAHA (CBP Helo) ship to be assigned to support USMC HMX-1 Squadron (Callsign NIGHTHAWK). ATF is also very commonly deployed to support USSS sweep teams.

166.8875 Air 7
166.7875 Air 8
163.4750 Air 9
169.6375 Boat 1

AM:
120.4250 Tac 1
120.4500 Tac 2
120.4750 Tac 3

There are a handful more (in both AM and FM) that I haven't been able to confirm, but the above list from my notes should be a good starting point.
