I am having a problem with my Uniden BC 346XT. I fully charge the batteries in it, and then about 30-45 minutes later the scanner is telling me the batteries are low. When I click the Volume / Squelch knob it is showing me that the batteries have 3.46 left in them. The scanner soon shuts off. Anybody else have a problem like this? Anyway to go about fixing this?

A voltage of 3.46 is about 1.15V per cell (low cells), so the report is correct. Either your cells are bad or they are not being fully charged. What voltage do they start at?

I would recommend an external charger.

What he is telling you is your radio is fine. It is telling you your batteries are about dead at 3.46.

He is asking you what the voltage reading is when you first put them in the radio. If it's not long before they are at 3.46, then they did not get charged to much more than that. Fresh fully charged batteries should give you a reading over 4.00

Sounds like your batteries are crap.

Okay sounds good, appreciate your guys replies. They are the original batteries that came with the unit at least 4 years ago. Anybody of you guys have recommendations for new batteries?
