Was searching the 800 band and found a DMR Control Channel on 860.2625 (same frequency as the Pittsburgh Motorola System). The Motorola System is still active but on a different frequency for the Control. Is Pittsburgh switching it's services to DMR?

Still could be a band opening although it's getting late in the day for that. What is the System ID and CC on the DMR? And are you sure it's DMR?

I talked to a few people and heard that Pittsburgh public works is getting new radios. This could be the new system. Its on the same frequencies so I would guess its right.

Maybe they are doing the same thing as they did at the airport. They dropped a couple channels out of the type ii system for US Air and then used them for a new Trbo system. Then they could run new and old radios simultaneously.

That's what it seems like. The type 2 system hasn't used 859.2625 or 860.2625 since I found it. Seems its only using 857 & 858.2625 for Control

Staley Communications are installing new radios in our DPW trucks that are programmed on AC Public Safety 2 494.9250. County DPW started with 3 radios for a test and is installing more radios as we speak.

I spoke with the installers and they said the City is also going to upgrade to Staleys System. Heinze Field is also part of this. Staley installer said its around 4000 radios.

City is doing what Univ of pitt did and converted there 800 trunk system to an 800 mototrbo system. They will not be on triconnex or county's new uhf channel.

Is there any new activity on it since the Open started? Maybe that's what it's for. Can't he heard here so it must be fairly local.
