Damn, no matter what I do with these photos they won't rotate correctly. I blame Windows 10. Here's the second set.

Well for some reason I can't post them here, so Dropbox links:

Wow, same usefull antenna, I see. Why is it even included? Looks like the rubber glove/case would be great protection at least. Not much use if you use a nylon or leather carry case however. I can see it as a base scanner alternative. So, the plastic back is not a kickstand after all?

Thanks for the pics Scott.

To be fair the default antenna is designed to be an "all band" starter antenna.
Obviously most folks are going to upgrade to better antenna (or set of antennas) designed
to better cover the freq ranges they wish to monitor.

Just glad to see that both manufacturers are continuing to try to innovate and provide more options! :)

The TRX-1 looks to be a great little rig!

Eh, the antenna... I noticed in the photos from the first TRX demonstrations that they were using a different antenna. Honestly, stuff like that is a bit dishonest, because someone new will pull it out of the box thinking it will work on the same systems, not realizing he needs a real antenna. Like on the car commercials, it should be "radio receives turbo **with optional upgraded equipment**."

Anyways, what I am really excited about is to hear how nice the new case is. If one of the wealthier members could do some drop tests, perhaps run it over with vehicle/tractor, etc., I am interested to see how it holds up. Portable consumers radios are basically for SHTF reserve for me at this juncture, so it'd only be worth buying if it can handle some serious abuse.
