Why hasn't someone starting streaming Ft Collins Police and Larimar County Sherriff yet? It is the fastest growing area in the United States and Colorado State University is a very active community. Any interest out there!?

There was 'Larimer County Sheriff' feed that included Fort Collins and Loveland Police that ran from before 2009 until April 2nd, 2013. http://forums.radioreference.com/co.../263753-fort-collins-police-go-encrypted.html happened on April 2nd, 2013. Fort Collins Police cited the feed as one of the reasons for why they went encrypted. They can no longer be monitored unless you work for public safety with a system radio or are a member of media.

Fort Collins police consider blocking radio traffic to public – The Denver Post

The Denver Post said:
Hutto said the department wants to keep criminals from listening to scanner traffic with smart phone applications and to keep personal information sometimes aired over police frequencies private. “That information can be social security numbers, birth dates and addresses.”

Fort Collins police department discusses using a radio encryption system

Chief John Hutto said:
As our technology has advanced, so has the technology available to the general public. In order to listen to police radio traffic before, you had to spend some money on an expensive scanner...you know, from RadioShack or someplace, and there were some effort involved in that.

Colorado State University Police, a separate entity from Fort Collins Police, is also partially encrypted as well.

So they had a basic fear of being heard and not being able to c.t.a., and no legit reason to encrypt all comms, so they used the ones that 4-8 commissioners can simply understand, with tons of unintended consequences. If good police work trumped 12 listeners they might be a better department, instead they lost valuable community assistance and oversight. hopefully the ebb and flow will change the other way, (and hopefully not caused by a tragedy). 4 criminals with 4 cells phone can overcome encryption any day, well in-fact the 4 cell phones have encryption but that's beside the point.
