Been monitoring this system for better part of a year.. Never was any action on it and havnt looked in a few months.

Tonight its quite chatty

No idea on the location of this system

Its DMR Connect Plus. System ID 392. Has 4 sites and a colour code of 1

Running DSD iv got this on Site 2
1 152.6 Control
2 151.535
3 152.34

OR in the DSD world its
1 152.6
2 152.6
3 151.535
4 151.535
5 152.34
6 152.34

Two active talkgroups
13
69
69 Is the most active with about 5 different radio ID's iv seen so far. Listening to them sounds like a police agency in the states someplace.

Cant seem to find anything using the FCC search for the USA nor anything on TAFL

Im in Chatham-Kent so i assume its something in Michigan.

Looking for some help to track down this system

Checking the scanner recordings from over night. Group 96 is a paramedic service, Herd them go to a rest home in loudonville.. Turns out that is in Ohio.

Sent the info off to the Ohio DB.

I've been logging this system for the last few months. I have quite a bit of information I'm planning on submitting to the database. The system is owned by Futronics and used predominantly by Holmes County Sheriff and multiple fire departments in the county. Been meaning to make a thread about this but never got around to it lol. Tonight when I get home I'll post up what I know.

That explains why Futronics build out at least one new site (the Nashville/homes site) in the past few years, with the only licensees on the tower being Futronics themselves. Must have gotten a decent county contract from Holmes to justify that.

So from what I can tell Holmes County and Futronics struck a deal around early 2013 to setup two new Futronics towers in Holmes County.
This system seems to be owned by Futronics. Holmes County Sheriff and Fire are active on this system.
Also the news articles suggest private businesses will also be allowed to use this system, seems to be correct from the logging I've done. Could be public works but I'm not quite sure.

Commissioners sign off on tower site agreements
Communication towers carry benefits for private, public sectors

Muxlow said hes been monitoring this system for almost a year and they just become active recently? The news articles are from late 2012 and early 2013. The fcc grant dates are also late 2013 early 2014. I have no idea when they switched over, I only noticed this system about two months ago when I stumbled upon it.

System ID 392 Con+ Color 1

Site 1 - Berlin WQSB863 (This site possibly has two more frequencies but not verified or heard traffic on them yet)

152.5400 LCN 1 LSN 1/2 Control Channel
151.4900 LCN 2 LSN 3/4
151.6475 LCN 3 LSN 5/6

Site 2 - Nashville WQSI341 (Technically in Knox Township but the license site name is Nashville)

152.600 LCN 1 LSN 1/2 Control Channel
151.535 LCN 2 LSN 3/4
151.835 LCN 3 LSN 5/6

I can only hear site 1 and site 2 from my location in north Summit, although both sites 1 and 2 announce 4 total sites. Also of note is that the control frequencies of both sites are not listed under the fcc information. They seem to be Part 22 frequencies.

Talkgroup 13 - Heard East Holmes Squad toneout and Holmes County Fire toneout, seems to be toneouts only, heard simulcasted on 155.940

Talkgroup 70 - This seems to be the main operations talkgroup for squad and fire traffic.

Talkgroup 69 - Units running plates, using bssa codes, responding to calls in county, likely Holmes County Sheriff, dispatch is "38" which is the county number of Holmes.

Also a couple other unknown talkgroups, possibly farmers or county engineer/public works.
I have unknown talkgroup and misc information I will be adding to the wiki.

The KQA522 license has expired and the users were Holmes County Sheriff per the database. I have not heard any traffic on these freqs and they are likely using the new system full time, although I can not confirm this yet.

I only hear very limited traffic on TG90, like 1 to 3 calls for an entire 9am to 8pm logging session. Every call is inside Millersburg city.

TG 13 - Holmes County Fire Dispatch
TG 70 - Holmes County Fire Main Ops
TG 69 - Holmes County Sheriff Dispatch
TG 42 - Holmes County Fire Ops 2
TG 90 - Millersburg Police?

Thank you very much. That's great info, by the both of you, and great sleuthing of info by you.

Out of sites 3 and 4, I would suspect one of them might be in Ashland -- not just based upon what Muxlow reportedhearing, but just by looking at the FCC antenna registration search and seeing what the FRN of 0004840815 reveals as constructed sites in the past two years in the general vicinity.

Go here: ASR Registration Search

Then select "Search By" : Owner FRN
- enter in 0004840815

You'll see all the Futronics owned towers, and as you go through the four pages the newest towers are at the end. Ashland, Millersburg, Berlin and Nashville were constructed in the past couple of years.

3play: Would you please submit your findings at Submit Data to RadioReference so I have record of them there?

Thanks!

Mike

I suspect the naming of that system may have to change to something other than "Futronics VHF Connect Plus (Ohio)" but I'll leave it as is for now . For you guys that monitor it, after about another month of monitoring if you are really only seeing local Holmes Co traffic, then maybe we'll change from (Ohio) to (Holmes Co). But, I guess that also depends if one of the sites is outside of the county or not, such as in Ashland.

All the traffic and locations I've heard so far seem to be within Holmes County.

I really do want to call it "Holmes Co", but you stated the system is owned by Futronics and that it can/will allow businesses to be on it. So I'm not sure if I should call it "Holmes Co DMR" or if we should just tink about it for now.

Pretty clear that Futronics VHF Connect Plus (Ohio) isn't appropriate. For now I'll change it to (Holmes) .

Okay very well. Yeah like I said I hear a few different talkgroups with what sounds like farming or public works type traffic, the locations they talk about are within Holmes. But yes the news article suggests other businesses would be allowed to use the system and they very well could be outside the county.

TG 1

Heard "626 is en route direct"

On 10/13 heard East Holmes Fire District setting up LZ for LifeFlight with LifeFlight also being present on TG 1. East Holmes units had their own radio IDs of course, but Life Flight was patched in and using the radio ID 115 (which is a dispatch console at 38 911).

TG 34

East Holmes Fire District was using this talkgroup much of the day for traffic control during

TG 44

947 was calling 921 (during buggy accident incident on 10/14)
921 responded on TG 70 and they continued conversation there

9xx might be Paint Twp Fire -- based upon article on the buggy accident where they indicate that Paint Twp was the first responders.

My observation shows RID 111-115 (at least) as being dispatch radios, either for 911 or MPD.

If you notice long RIDs prefixed with 38 but at least six digits long, most if not all of the time those are handhelds. You may notice RID 3801 (SO unit 1) also using RID 380001 (SO unit 1 handheld when out of vehicle).

On 10/14 during the buggy accident, a couple of the SO units attempted to switch to MARCS to communicate but didn't have good comms capabilities on MARCS and switched back. They had switched to "TAC 1", which I suspect was probably a 54xxx Holmes Co Sheriff Tac .

I only monitor one site (Berlin), and I get 100% copy on it and record everything. Given the traffic I end up picking up on this site, I suspect that just about every township (and probably some municipalities) in Holmes county have DPW talkgroups on this trunked system.

My current list of active talkgroups on the system. Talkgroups with only 1 hit should be discounted for now, as it could have been a decoding error. For the most part, this list is accurate though. Of course, almost every talkgroup is unknown.

RIDs in the 6xxx range thus far are all various DPW radios

TGs 61, 55, 53, 52, 51 and 49 all seem to be DPW talkgroups

Heard testing on TG 57 today (RID 113 -- 11x RIDs are typically 911 dispatch radios)

RID 111; SO dispatch radio
RID 112; Fire dispatch radio
RID 113; seen on TG 57
RID 114; Millersburg PD dispatch rado
RID 115; seen on TG 1

Hi,
I live in the area of the Berlin tower, Im trying to figure out how to program it to monitor these agencies.
Im very green to DMR as I have not used my radios for a long time and just decided to get back into it a little. Alot has changed in the last 5 years.
For Holmes County, I have frequencies set, color code 1 set, Talk groups set to 13,69,70, and 90.
The unknowns are the following.
-Do I need to specify 392 anywhere in the contacts?
-Do I set the channels to frequency1 time slot 1 and make another channel freq1 time slot2.. and so on?
-For monitoring... Do I then Scan all channels with both time slots? Do I include the control channels in the scan?
Somehow Im missing something cause the radio occasionally stops on a TG but I dont hear anything.
Any tips are greatly appreciated.
I have a MD-2017 TYT portable.
