• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there any possible way to activate the FleetSync or PassPort tones on conventional?

Sorry can you clarify? I have never turned on PTT ID before in simple Analog / Conventional. This will give me a different PTT Proceed Tone?

If you are wanting a PTT Proceed Tone in conventional mode in SJ-180, go to "Edit" - "Optional Features", then select the "Conventional" tab. In the lower left side of the page, there is a box for "PTT Proceed Tone (Conventional)", check the box and you should have it. There is also a "Proceed Tone Delay Time" you can set right there too if needed. If you have a later version of SJ-180, the "Alternate Proceed Tone" is at, "Edit - "Common Page 1", then in the right side column, it is the last check box in the line of options, after "Auto Backlight", and before the Horn Alert settings.

Totally lost. I have an NX-210. How do I get the alternate PTT tones you hear in FleetSync and PassPort but on a basic conventional channel using KPG-111D.

Is it possible?

Sorry, I thought we were talking about PassPort and SJ-180 programming software for TK-x180 radios with PassPort firmware. There is no such thing as an alternate PTT tome checkbox in any other Kenwood software that I know of.

To kenwoodgeek: I would think that version 2.2.0.6 of SJ-180 would have the alternate proceed tone function in it, but you still might need a higher firmware version. You should check with your local Kenwood dealer or Rep., and see if they can still get the higher firmware version for you, (2.01.00, checksum DF1C).

You don't that I know of. With the NX-2x0/7x0 series radios, in conventional mode you either get the conventional TPT that kinda sounds like the Motorola triple beep trunking TPT, or you get the MDC1200/Fleetsync side tone. I think the two are different but I only played with MDC1200 for a couple minutes because I actually have no use for it and I can't honestly remember what the MDC1200 side tone sounds like on my NX-2/700 radios.

You can also have the TPT in conventional NXDN as well.

No idea what the NXDN trunking TPT sounds like because I have never used an NXDN trunk system.

MDC-1200 is easier to set up than Fleetsync, pick an ID numberbetween $0001-FEEE, then enable pre-PTTID on the channel you want to annoy the hell out of people on.
